This body of work is loosely inspired by Women Holding Things, a beautiful book of poems and drawings by Maira Kalman.
I am moved by all the things we carry through our lives—the physical, and of course, the emotional. And by the beautiful, unexpected, and sometimes unimagined things that come from all that carrying.
As I painted these pieces, I kept coming back to that idea. The weight of it all, but also the beauty and levity that can emerge from it.
